IRIS
A New Generation of Interoperable Systems
Architecting systems that break data silos
IRIS is a software integration framework that focuses on maximizing the interoperability of data. By leveraging non-proprietary standards and architectures, IRIS enables different software components, platforms, databases, and services to communicate and transact effectively, regardless of their underlying technologies or vendors. This results in software that is modular, flexible, and extensible, and brings collective value and capability that the component parts on their own never could.
Increased Versatility
A system that adapts to your mission needs
IRIS is built on the principles of modular architecture, where systems are divided into independent and interchangeable components. Each module can be replaced, upgraded, or extended based on the needs of the mission. This aligns with a modular open systems approach (MOSA). Furthermore, IRIS adheres to widely recognized open standards and protocols, ensuring that other software built using these standards can be easily integrated with it. This minimizes the need for proprietary interfaces and reduces vendor lock-in.
Enhanced Situational Awareness
Integrated systems resulting in a clearer picture
The sensors on your platforms collect vast amounts of data across the enterprise and onto the battlespace. Every drone, RADAR, and satellite is acquiring information that aids the mission. However, in isolation, this data only paints part of the picture. IRIS fuses data from various and disparate sensor feeds to create a comprehensive and accurate operating picture that considers degraded and intermittent environments. IRIS also facilitates cross-domain integration, combining data feeds from air, land, sea, space, and cyber domains to detect and respond to threats across each domain more effectively. This enhanced situational awareness leads to better decision-making, analysis, fires deconfliction, command & control (C2), and enhanced joint operations across the force.
Intelligence at Scale
Using vast amounts of collected data to train and deploy powerful AI
By integrating and organizing large amounts of sensor data, IRIS paves the way for training powerful machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) models to perform mission-specific tasks. These models can be trained, validated, and deployed directly in the IRIS flexible compute environment. Using multiple sensor feeds allows for data validation and labeling, leading to the faster generation of accurately labeled training data. ML models deployed on IRIS can utilize the interoperability of the system to send inferences to remote systems for use cases such as threat detection, route finding, decision aids, and pilotage.
